Bloggers’ Meet @ Sue’s

Posted on December 3, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Bloggers’ Meet @ Sue’s

The long awaited meet is finally here today. Miracle8 was the first to arrived and I’m the second one. We both tried to look for the unit where Sue’s living and caused a bit of “stir” among her neighbours coz I got the wrong house! Hehehe… I called her mobile phone but it’s forwarded to voicemail, worst… I left Sue’s home phone number at home. At the end, we asked the guard for help *LOL* He was kinda blur with who we wanted to meet. I’m kinda stupid too. I should just tell the guard that we were looking for someone that just got back from the US! Yet I kept telling him that her house was first unit and she’s staying upstair. Hehehe… I forgotten that it’s should be consider the second unit as it’s the second door not the first door. Haven’t been there for quite a while as I used to go there for a swim coz my uncle has a unit there.

Left: Scenery from Sue’s balcony.
Right: Miracle8 bought these! I took the leftover back and I ruined them! πŸ˜› The icings were all over the box because I had forgotten that they could roll!

After both of us got into the house, Robin called to ask for directions. I didn’t know he’s in the apartment area already. I thought Robin and his gang were lost somewhere in the housing estate outside of the apartment. *LOL* After Robin and his gang arrived, Ann and Jee arrived. The last to arrive were Allen and Frankie πŸ˜›

We were served with chocolates! Yummy… I had never had so much chocolate in 2 hours+ in my life. Sugar high now πŸ˜› As we are bloggers, we kept snapping here and there *LOL* How can bloggers live without cameras? You tell me? I know I’ll be suffering withdrawal symptoms if I don’t have my camera with me πŸ˜› We shoot at every available oppotunity hehehe…

We had a great time hearing Sue’s talking about her experiences staying in the US. She did the talking most of the time hehehe… There were so many things for her to share but we had to end the meet around 7pm becuase she had another appointment and I was supposed to get home before 7pm. Had a great time there, meeting bloggers that I had never met before. I prefer something small and intimate meeting like this rather than having a huge party. Ah well… I just don’t like crowds. Photo session is a must for bloggers πŸ˜› We took group photos and went home. Here… You can’t see Sue’s face πŸ˜›

Left-right: Frankie, Chun Chow, Robin, Allen, Ken, Ivan, Miracle8(Boon Kim), Sue and her daughter, Ann and Jee, me and Naomi

Nice to meet all of you! πŸ™‚

Ely & Cindy Custom Wedding(PART-3)

Posted on November 28, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender 1 Comment on Ely & Cindy Custom Wedding(PART-3)

OK… It’s dinner time! We reached there at about 5.40pm to set up the video camera but realised that an extremely long cable was needed for the video camera and projector to be able to connect to each other. Ely friend’s called up somebody to send the cable over but that somebody was occupied with other works so we waited, waited and waited until 6.30pm, I guess… The dinner supposed to start by then but as I said previously, Chinese banquet will never start on time. Phew…

I’m not sure what time did the dinner starts as we were so busy with the video camera setup and projector display. Totally forget what time it was already.

The bride and groom were supposed to be there at the entrance to greet the guesst but it seemed like the makeup session took too long and they arrived later than the expected time, they appeared as the same time as most guests *LOL*. After all the guests arrived, the dinner started. The couple made the grand entrance and food was served. I will blog about the food in another post.

They had karaoke session because it’s a must for them. They are all karaoke “kaki”. The couple loves karaoke very much and I’m assuming that they met each other at karaoke too. The probability is high because Jimmy was one of their karaoke “kaki” too last time.*LOL*

The usual ritual, MC asked the couple to go up to the stage to open the champagne. Next, they were required to “feed”(I forgot the word for it -_-“) the champagne to each other. After that, the parents were invited to the stage joining the couple to “yam seng” to the guests. Of course it didn’t end there, the couple stayed on the stage to cut the cake and the typical feed-the-bride trick was done. We had them repeat the trick 2 times because it was too fast and we were not in time to snap pictures of it. So the third time, they were required to kiss each other on the lips but the couple tried to tricked us and got caught by us. The fourth time, they were required to kiss and turn 360 degree so that everyone from every angle could see them.

After all these, the couple were asked to sing a song. This is of course a must! Karaoke “kaki” didn’t sing any song wasn’t quite right *LOL* The bride and groom did give speech too, not long winding speech, they gave thanks to their parents for everything and also thank the guests for attending.

Then, it was time for the groom’s party to play trick on the bride’s party *LOL* They asked the bride’s party to go up to the stage and sing our national anthem as “revenge” because the guys were asked to sing it that morning. After so much “arguments” between the both parties, the guys ended up accompanying the girls on the stage and the girls sang the national anthem.

That’s all. The rest of the night were guests went up the stage to sing including the bride’s father. The dinner ended at about 9.30pm or earlier… Not quite remember. Very tired already and didn’t even track the time. All I know was that I wanted to get home and rest.

Ely & Cindy Custom Wedding(PART-2)

Posted on November 27, 2006May 7, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Ely & Cindy Custom Wedding(PART-2)

After the groom’s house, they went to the temple to pay respect to the groom’s ancestors before going to the bride’s house for tea ceremony.

After the temple, they went back to the bride’s house for tea ceremony. The bride’s father removed the veil partially and then the groom finished it up. After that, we just waited for other relatives to arrive. While waiting, it’s eating time again. Sweet dumplings were served.

After the tea ceremony, family potrait was taken. Then it’s the end of it. We just waited for the time to go to Kuching Mandarin Restaurant for lunch. This restaurant is situated opposite DHL above Chilipeppers.

After lunch, we went to Thian Court at Crown Square to plan for the setup of video camera’s position. Ely’s friends was in charged of the projectors positions and table number arrangement.

When I reached home, it’s almost 2.30pm already. WOW! Been “working” for almost 12 hours. Extremely tired. Thought of taking a nap but didn’t. After taking my shower and edited some photos for blogging, I got ready to go to Thian Court. We reached there at about 5.30pm because we need to set up the video camera. Dinner was supposed to start at 6.30pm but as you know… Chinese banquet never start on time, it will definitely delay for 1 hour or so. If you are lucky enough, the shortest delay will be half hour.

Third post coming up! Do come back for more update ;-p.

Ely & Cindy Custom Wedding(PART-1)

Posted on November 25, 2006November 23, 2008 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Ely & Cindy Custom Wedding(PART-1)

Today is the day! I was hardworking enough to wake up at 4am and went to Ely’s house at about 5.15am with Jimmy. I joined the groom’s party -_-” I’m the only girl! *GULP* Had breakfast there and then took some photos while waiting for them to pick up the bride at 6am. It’s so tiring compare to Ann’s. Being the bridesmaid wasn’t that tiring as being the “working party”. Summore, theirs were much complicated than Ann’s.

I will blog about this wedding by parts, so bear with me, you’ll be fed with this wedding related posts for one week(I guess…). A lot! Besides, my battery died after the tea ceremony for the elders at the groom’s house. The rest of the photos are in the groom’s camera. Luckily he got another battery as it went low before the tea ceremony at the bride’s house. This means that I can only blog about the starting part only. Will get the photos soon πŸ™‚

Some photos taken at the grooms house before setting out. The mini muffins were our breakfast. The purple ribbons are for the entourage cars. They also prepared firecrackers. See the pink ribbon next to the oranges? It’s for the groom’s party to be pinned on their shirts. As for me, it’s on my blouse πŸ˜›

6am… Time to set out. They picked up the “good luck” woman first(I don’t know what it’s called in English πŸ˜› She’s the woman in brown). This woman must be married with children and have a happy family.

When they reached the bride’s house, the bride’s party played tricks on the groom and his friends. They fed the groom’s party with biscuits that the bride’s dog likes. *LOL* No worries, it’s not dog biscuits, it’s just normal biscuits that us human consumed. They even had to sing our national anthem before meeting the bride. However, the bride wasn’t in her room. They hid her in another room. Finally Ely found her. He gave her the hand bouquet and few kisses upon instructions of the both parties. Then, Cindy pinned the corsage. After that, they set out to the groom’s house. See the red umbrella? If not mistaken, we forgot all about it that time during Ann’s custom wedding ceremony. The umbrella was to ward off evil spirits.

When reached the groom’s house, they went straight to the couple’s room. They had this ceremony of opening the luggage filled with the gifts for the bride from her family. All the gifts were placed on their bed. See that yellow thing there? πŸ˜› Guess what? It’s was so cute! Lucky he send one and not millions and millions of them πŸ˜› It’s a gift from a net friend at KL that couldn’t attend their wedding. He bought it from Singapore and sent to Kuching from KL via Poslaju. By the way, Jimmy and I sort of represented Ely’s net friends to be there for the ceremony and at the same time be his videographers.

Next, a boy was required to jump and roll on their bed so that they will be blessed with children. After that, see the potty? Hehehe… They put some peanuts and lotus seeds in there and asked the boy to pee in there.

After all that, we went down to have more breakfast again while waiting for the groom’s relatives to come. It was only 8am++. We had some photo sessions. Sweet dumplings were served and they both were required to feed each other to symbolise happy marriage.

That’s all for part one, these are all the photos I have πŸ™‚ Stay tune for part two. I’m still in the process of receiving the photos.

Ely & Cindy Wedding Invitation

Posted on November 23, 2006March 21, 2007 By sweet surrender No Comments on Ely & Cindy Wedding Invitation

30.9.2006, I attended their registration. Now the long awaited “BOMB” is here πŸ˜› As we need to prepare “ang pao”(red packet that contain money) for the couple when attending their wedding dinner at Thian Court on 25th November 2006.

That morning they will have their custom wedding ceremony. Hmm… I might tag along to be the busybody again as Jimmy will be the one filming the ceremony. Then I will be the one to take photos for our blogs update. *LOL* Well, only if I’m hardworking enough to wake up at 4am(I’m a girl πŸ˜› I need time to prepare) as we have to be at the groom’s house before 5.30am because he has to leave his house at 5.30am to the bride’s house. Don’t you think you are the much luckier, Ann? Hehehe… they are so much earlier than yours. Judging from the timing, I took the calender and noticed that the bride must be out of here house before 7am!! This is because there aren’t any good time after 7am until almost noon but people would prefer the earliest time possible because the possibility of coming across funeral entourage on the way to and fro the couple’s house is nil.

It’s not hard. Hehehe… as long that you have a Chinese calender(you know those daily calender with so many Chinese words), know how to read Chinese and know the words they used, then you can grasp it easily hehehe… It’s all stated in the calender already, you don’t need to be “God” to decipher them. However, don’t ask me about those 8 birth numbers to calculate the compatibility and so on, I have totally no idea and don’t believe in any of these at all. You won’t get all these in my wedding, I will fight for it no matter what! I’ll make sure I brain-wash my husband-to-be first so that we can fight together *LOL*

OK… Back to the invitation card, here’s the card, the one above is the envelop:

The card looked pretty nice though it uses red and gold, very typical chinese colour. Maybe the design is very simple and clean, that’s why. As for the envelopes, they print them themselves. The original envelopes are just plain pink envelopes. Every envelope has different design. I don’t have them but you can see it from here. See the left corner of the envelope? It’s done by Alysha.
They personalised everyone of them. Every envelope has different printing at the back. See the toppest photo on the right, they have it printed on every envelope and everyone of them is different. No duplicate! For example, my table is E2, they list the other 9 guests’ names there except mine. So everyone will not have their name at the back of the envelope. WOW! Lots of time, energy, works and concentrations needed!

Here… I did this(the design/photo arrangement) for them πŸ˜› I’m Just being busybody again LOL!
