Random Photos from Sugar Bun

Posted on September 10, 2008September 10, 2008 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Random Photos from Sugar Bun

Pretty tired today… Just a quick update.

Showing you some set meals that you can get from Sugar Bun hahaha… Had this few weeks back with my family. The meat quality was very disappointing, it was dry and small. I noticed that there’s no consistency in their chicken. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it bad.

Anyway, enjoy the very yellowish photos of chicken and fist fillet set meal.

Escargot, Anyone?

Posted on September 9, 2008September 9, 2008 By sweet surrender 6 Comments on Escargot, Anyone?

Does this gross you out or does this make you salivate? Hehehe…

This is the first time my mom cook snails/escargots with lemon grass and curry. This is the second time I’m having it. My dad bought it because the stall owner said that it can relieve symptom of something-something *LOL* I don’t remember what hahaha…

The first time was given by my aunt. It was a different kind, the type with black cone shell.

My late grandma cooked this a lot last time and it’s something very common that my dad ate when he’s young. For us, it’s like once a blue moon thing, if my dad doesn’t buy it, then we won’t be eating it because my mom won’t buy this kind of thing hahaha… It’s a hassle eating it. You need to prick it out with special tools but we used safety pins hahaha…

Tri-Garden Hot Pot

Posted on September 8, 2008September 8, 2008 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Tri-Garden Hot Pot

神经病! In case you don’t know what is this, it means “CRAZY!” in Chinese.

Went to Tri-Garden last week, not for the hot pot though, just to accompany someone for dinner hahaha… If I wasn’t full that night, we would be ordering the hot pot since it’s a cold and rainy night.

Nevermind, we can always go some other days with more people, the more the marrier. It’s almost similar to Chong Qing Steamboat(not sure still in operation or not hmm… Long time didn’t go there hehehe…) but this is from Sichuan. The pot is different too and it uses electrical stove instead of gas.

Before we reached the shop, just few shops away and we could already smell the spiciness! WAH! Heard from friend that the least spicy one is spicy enough already to those that like spicy food. Hahaha… Let’s go challenge it? Hey Ann, Lee! 😛 Let’s go there to have steamboat.

Left: Here’s the menu for the steamboat. The pricings are quite standard, similar to Chong Qing one.
Right: One of the drinks, they recommended this to us, pretty sweet but refreshing. Lemon Sea Coconut(RM2.50).

Here’s two dishes we ordered:

Guiness pork/chicken/prawn/fish/sotong(RM8). I don’t remember what meat it this 😛 As I’m not the one ordering it. It’s very nice to pair with plain rice else the flavour would be a bit too salty. I noticed Sichuan’s flavorings are pretty strong or flavourful. It’s either very sweet, salty or spicy. I guess that’s their uniqueness.

Hong Kong Style Small Cabbage(RM6), this is quite salty also but if you pair it with plain rice, it’s just nice.

By the way, a bowl of rice is RM1.

So… Anyone wanna go? Hehehe… Oh ya… The location, located at Padungan at the previous “Lau Dian”. If you coming from the cat statue, it’s on your left row of shops, you can easily spot it. It’s before Memories if I’m not mistaken.

J.CO Donuts

Posted on September 5, 2008September 5, 2008 By sweet surrender 15 Comments on J.CO Donuts

Got this from MonkeyWong, totally agree with you!
First, not everyone who shits on you is your enemy.
Second, not everyone who gets you out of shit is your friend.
And when you are in deep shit, its best to keep your mouth shut!

J.CO!! Finally I got to taste it. I asked my sis to bring it back to Kuching during her not-so-long ago trip to KL. It’s not fresh anymore though… It was bought the night before she came back.

She bought one dozen and it’s only RM19.05(include tax it’s RM20). Goodness… Compare the prices with Big Apple Donuts in Kuching, see the difference? Summore, one box of one dozen or 2 boxes of half dozen are the same price unlike Big Apple where you get different price for a dozen of donuts. Even Big Appple Donuts in KL isn’t as expensive as the price in Kuching. I got to know that Big Apple had increased their price already and the size getting smaller and the fillings also getting less. AIYO!! Cannot like that la!!

So… What’s my verdict after eating J.CO?
Hmm… Not much difference to me… It tasted like Big Apple to me. Hahaha… Except the toppings and fillings are much sweeter than Big Apple. Frankly, I do prefer Big Apple’s toppings and fillings compare to JCo. As for texture wise, they are the same to me hahaha… *SHRUG* It could be that it’s not fresh anymore that’s why hahaha… Unlike Big Apple we got to eat it straight away from the kitchen hehehe… So can’t really comment much except for the sweetness.

Let me introduce them to you one by one:

Don’t you think the “designs” looked very similar to each other? Hahaha… People said that Big Apple copied J.CO.

Left box, bottom left to right to top:
JCrown Nutella, Don Mochino, Miss Green T, Hazel Dazzel, Al Caponne, Glazzy

Right box, bottom left to right to top:
Caviar Mint, Snow White, Manggo Blitz, Why Nut?, Tira Miss U, Oreology.

Silhouette @ tHe Spring

Posted on September 3, 2008September 3, 2008 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Silhouette @ tHe Spring

Happy birthday dear… Hopefully one day we can celebrate our birthdays together.

Made a last minute decision last night to go to Silhouette at tHe Spring just next to Food & Tea. It’s a restaurant and bar that just opened not so long ago. The place looked very high class but don’t worry about the food price, they are averagely priced just like another western restaurant in town.

Left: The menu. The food choices are pretty limited but I heard good feedback about their pizzas. You can get decent pizza below RM20. Not bad eh… Drinks start at RM5 if not mistaken.
Right: This is the bar section. It was early and not many people there. There were only one customer that practically chain smoking and chain drinking there, Jimmy and I. Was waiting for another 2 friends but at the end only one came. Later at night, customers of all ages were pouring in, it was packed!

When we were there, the music wasn’t that loud because there’s not much chatters. Towards the night when more and more patrons came, the music got louder and louder. It’s not the clubbing type of music though, not jazz too. Hmm… What’s the music genre? Something like pop rock. Hmm… Don’t know which genre and I don’t remember which songs also hahaha…

The suction fans are so small and only activated based on timer. I smelt of cigarette smoke after coming out of it as practically everyone that went there smoke! EWW… Don’t know how many second hand smoke I had inhaled.

Later towards the night, I felt so sleepy in there. I could practically sleep right there even with the music so loud and people around hahaha… Maybe I’m bored. Also when the music got louder, I developed headache. I don’t like nightspots OK?!?! Really can’t stand the smoke and the loud music.

It’s a great place to relax and hang out with friends but having people smoking in there and music getting louder and louder because of the loud chatters, it’s really not a place I want to go. If only smoking is banned in there. Impossible hahaha…

Anyway, as you can see from the photos, the interior colours are black, gold and white. Again, this is owned by one of the sons of our very own tycoon in Sarawak. The Original Carwash is owned by another son.

Our drinks:
Heineken Extra Large(RM18), it’s really huge!
My mocktail, Shirley Temple(RM16), hmmm… I would say not worth it, it’s just soda and some red syrup hahaha… In fact I was expecting something different *LOL* Should have order the fresh fruit mocktail which is much more worth it as it’s much more special and cheaper.
Guiness Stout Perfect Pint (RM14).

Left: We were served with a bowl of peanuts! We were speculating on how much they would be charging us, RM10? RM15? Hahaha… At the end, no charge at all. It’s free flow summore! Once you finished them, they will refill for you. The peanuts is not the normal peanut, it’s the type just like what you got when you have dinner banquet at Lok Thian or Thian Court.
Right: Silhouette Combo 4-in-1(RM25), hmm… Nothing much to rave about really. It has fries, calamari, chicken crisper, and fish fritto. The calamari is quite disappointing for me but it’s the best among the rest *LOL* Fries are just fries, chicken crisper is tough and tasteless, fish fritto is though and tasteless too. Luckily the portion isn’t big else we will have problem finishing it and waste money hahaha…

Overall, the place is nice. Minus the smoke and loud music, it would be perfect! Highly recommended to go. If you don’t want to hang out at the bar, you can just hang out at the restaurant section. It’s much quiet and less smoke.

Before we left… I was given a surprise but I’m not really surprised by it *LOL* What was it? You’ll know tomorrow hahaha…
