WARNING!!! I’M SORRY FOR DIAL-UP USERS , THIS POST IS REALLY BIG!!! THE TOTAL SIZE OF IT IS ALMOST 1MB… VIEW AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Goshhh… sorry for the slow update. I’m so the very very busy with work and couldn’t find much time to edit and filter the photos. Works are piling up now… π Anyway…. this is what I’ve promise to show you π By the way, the whole process didn’t follow much of the actual traditional wedding of the Chinese. Many practices were skipped because these are just not them. Those maintained are:
– Must leave the bride’s house before the said time
– Tea ceremony
– Paying respect to the ancestors
– Changing of clothes before going back to the bride’s house
– No reversing of car when the newly-weds are in there
– Play tricks on the groom. This only applied to people of some Chinese dialects, not all will have this. Ann added this in for the fun of it and not because of the customs/traditions.
– Red clothes on top of the main door. You can see these in many Chinese houses when there are events like engagement, moving to new house, getting married etc in the household. If you see white, then it means someone passed away. However, you won’t be seeing the red cloth for my family LOL… we don’t practice this at all.
Woke at up at 3am to prepare… Noticed Ann’s hair? She’s supposed to be using white orchids but it dried up because it’s not put into the water. So we spent about 15 minutes to look for subsitute flowers from her garden but none so resorted to the fake flowers in her house and lucky she has lots of them at home.
At about 5am++, we’re done and we prepared the stuffs that the tricks needed to be played on Jee.
Jee’s and his friends arrived at about 6am… way too early as scheduled and tried to fooled us into starting the tricks early by saying that the time table had changed. It’s should be 6am not 6.15am as mentioned earlier. I don’t have much of the tricks photos because Jimmy was in charged of the video and no one from our side have any camera to capture it. The one you are seeing here was the kissing game. We asked the guys to stand in a row and then pass the oil blotter with their lips, if it fell, it will need to be restart. 20 seconds for 2 rounds.
Next, we had it at the staircase with Jee and his bestman doing yoga for 30 seconds but because we weren’t sure how to explain the second yoga move to them, while we were discussing a bit, they took the chance to rammed into our barrier and rush upstair to Ann’s room lucky the door was locked. FOUL PLAY!!! I tried to stopped them and hold them. While doing that, I stepped on my own dress while doing that agreesive move, luckily the dress wasn’t torn or anything, it’s very tough! Hahhaha…
Before going into the room, Jee needed to decode the lips marks on the paper to determine which one was Ann’s. 3 chances given and he got it all WRONG!!! So as a punishment, they need to finish the packet of wheatgerm. It’s very dry and powedery. They tore it opened and GULP down the whole packet and rush into the nearby washroom to drink water from the pipe. We were supposed to give them a glass of plain water each after they swallowed it but they were so impatient. After this, he should be allowed to see his bride but because they rammed the barrier before this, so we had another backup!!
This time, it’s decoding the hair on the paper. Find Ann’s hair, 2 chances given and FAILED again! So… we asked Jee to do another yoga move for 20 seconds since he skipped it earlier. So… Finally… He’s in!
Off… we went to Jee’s house. While waiting for the tea ceremony, we were served with some traditional cakes. When it started, Jee’s mom pay respect to the ancestor with joss sticks[I’m sorry… I really hate this part!!! It make my nose itch and I was sneezing the whole afternoon when got back home :-(, told u my nose is sensitive to smoke! A big NO for my wedding! Frankly… I don’t fancy tea ceremony too, I don’t want this on my wedding too!]
After that, Ann went to change to a second gown and then we went to her house for tea ceremony. Goosssh…. the "paparazzies"!!! When we were on the road, when almost reached the traffic light, it’s still quite early in the morning, so not much cars on the road, the "paparazzies" reached there first and we were still behind, they reversed all the way to keep at the same pace as us to take pictures! People in other cars were looking at us with very funny looks but they had fun watching (I guess..) all these happened. Cameras and videos from the left and from behind too! WOW… Potential paparazzies, don’t you think?
Poor… Kelisa, the car the paparazzies were in… such a small car with 4 big big guys! Looking at them, the car slanted to one side because their sitting position were not right and all the weight concentrate on one side of it. It was hilarious! HAHAH… Could even see the tyres were kinda flat due the weight in the car π It’s so heavy!
The final stop… Ann’s house. However, we coulnd’t go in becuase Ann’s family were out for breakfast and didn’t expect us to go back so early. We waited in the car. Then Ann realised that we forgot the red umbrella π LOL… it was supposed to be used for when the bride was going to the groom’s house. It’s believed that ti can’t protect the bride from being attack by negative energy or bad spirits.
Suddenly, again… Ann remembered the tea pot! It’s left at Jee’s house… Jee called home and wanted to ask his uncle to send over but was told it’s already passed to our friends. Hahahaha… What a chaos!
I got to know that the bridal car shouldn’t be reversing with the newly-weds in there. No wonder everytime I saw the car went out head first even though it went in head first. When the newly-weds came out of the car, the driver would repark the car so that it will not reverse when wanted to go out.
Finally they’re back and we waited again becuase many relatives weren’t there yet. So we just sat down and catching up with each other. When it started, Ann and Jee paid respects to her ancestors by bowing three times to the photos. Next the tea ceremony started.
After that , it was supposed to be lunch time. Time was passing really slow… we thought that it’s already 11am++ but it’s only 10am++… WOW… so the caterer wasn’t there yet, again… We killed our time by fooling around. After lunch, we called it a day and went home to rest for the dinner at Hilton. Ann and Jee went to Hilton to catch some sleeps before going off to Alvin’s for evening makeup at 4pm. Will blog about it when I’m freerer…. GOSSHHH… about 300+ photos to sort out…*Faint*
