Decided to try out Tian Sian Steamboat, a new steamboat establishment that just opened for business not long ago. I heard that it’s expensive but still wanted to try out. So we went…
The menu and the pot of soup. We ordered the small spicy hotpot soupbase(RM30). It’s not spicy at all because we told them that we didn’t want anything too spicy. At first we wanted to order the spicy and original combo but the pot wasn’t here yet. Then we wanted to order the original soupbase, it was out of stock also.
Lamb shoulder(RM21) and pork shoulder(RM13). Basically, this place is not halal. Ordered others too(refer to the receipt later) but no photos because they pour everything in for you. I stopped them from pouring in the meat because I prefer to shabu-shabu them than letting them cooked inside the pot.
Somebody is an alcoholic, whenever he sees beer, he sure can’t resist it, Heineken small (RM10). For the rest of us, we ordered tinned green tea(RM5). See those garlics, dried chilies, and etc. We tried to figure out what’s in the soup ;p By the way, there’s no dipping sauces available as this is what makes it different from other steamboat establishments.
It’s quite good but the price is also quite “good”. Usually you will feel very thirsty when having steamboat but for this, I didn’t feel thristy at all and I even had difficulty finishing my green tea.
3 of us, the bill came to this total (O.o)”
Of course we didn’t show our shocked faces(or I’m the only shocked one, I don’t know about the rest ;p) to them, we paid and left and complaint in the car *LOL* We already expected it to be expensive but didn’t expected it to reach such amount because we ordered so little things. Not to forget the 10% service tax.
I wonder how long will it survive though… Knowing Kuching people and I already hear many saying that they won’t go for the second time anymore, too expensive! As for me? I don’t think I will go again also even though it’s good but cannot afford to spend this kind of money always.
You can find them in KL, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and China. You can check out their website at http://www.tansian.com.tw

yup..the food is expensive! in the 1st time, i went there with friends (total 16-17 people), & we had to pay RM 20 per person..only 1 soup tho..><“)
when u have your bonus/kena lottery, dun be hesitate to go there having a try on the special + delicious soup they have there. & dun forget about the beverages too. ^^
If you go with a lot of people, the cost will be splited and it’s much more affordable. If you only got there with less than 4 people, it’s very expensive!
