Dinner @ Pondok Laguna @ Crown Square

Posted on June 20, 2008November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 8 Comments on Dinner @ Pondok Laguna @ Crown Square

Made a last minute decision to have dinner at Pondok Laguna, an Indonesian restaurant at Crown Square. Never been there so went there armed with our RM50 voucher that we got hahaha… Means we’re there to eat for FREE πŸ˜› One meal for RM50 for 2 persons it’s a bit too much I guess *BLEK* Don’t care! We’re going to try as much food as we can at the end, we only spent RM48+, we thought it would be more than RM50. That’s because they only charged 5% GST. There… RM50 voucher gone… Hahaha…

It’s quite seclude, sandwiched between two shops at the ground floor. If you don’t pay attention to it, you won’t notice it. You’ll see it when you make your entrance at the other entrance at Mr. Ho’s.

The interior. You can opt to use one of the 3 private rooms but reservation is required. I quite like interior but a bit too dark for taking pictures.

Left: This snack, keropok, cost RM3, we didn’t manage to finish it, was so stuffed. It tasted quite nice. It’s served to you once you’ve done your order, it’s not free. Maybe if you dont want, you can ask them to take it away, then you won’t be charge, not sure about this πŸ˜› Or RM3 is table charge no matter you want it or not.
Right: Carrot juice(RM4) and Avocado juice(RM6), these are real juice! They are thick and yummy.

Left: Standard cutlery, fork and spoon. They provided napkin instead of serviette.

Right: Sate Kambing(RM8.50), lamb satay the Indonesian style. You don’t get the usual peanut gravy. The gravy is spicy!!! If you cannot stand spicy food, I won’t recommend this to you. It’s quite tasty but my stomach cannot really stand the chili, after the first stick, I felt like my stomach started to cramp due to the spiciness. Only 8 sticks per plate.

Nasi Timbel(RM2 each), rice wrapped in banana leaf. I would recommend you to order this rice rather than the plain rice which is also RM2 because it’s different and it’s so cute πŸ˜› Kinda sticky and tough though but once you mixed it with a bit of the soup or the gravy, it’s OK.

Left: Gado Gado(RM6), mixed veggie with peanut sauce(think of our local satay gravy :P), the mixed veggies were blanched and served with peanut sauce. I always heard this in TV but never know how it looked and tasted like hahaha… Now I know.

Right: Soto Bandung(RM7), sliced beef with mixed vegetable and tang hoon soup. Nothing much to rave about this.

Left: Rendang Daging(RM8), beef rendang. Portion very small, 6 cubes only. It’s considered spicy for those that cannot tolerate spicy food.

Right: The menu.

All these food can actually feed about 3-4 persons hahaha… We were so stuffed and left some Gado Gado, a stick of lamb satay and the keropok behind. I should have dabao the keropok! I’m not sure how good is their business, it’s was so empty when we were there -.-” Are we seeing another food establishment that going to close door soon?

Frankly, the food are quite reasonably priced and the environment is very nice too. A great place to go with friends and family. Splitting cost is the best way to save πŸ™‚

Actually not bad, not expensive πŸ™‚ Hehehe… They have set lunch or dinner also and it’s less than RM6, depending on what kind you order. Service pretty good too, only 5% GST, not bad.
