Contest Starts Tomorrow

Posted on August 16, 2009August 17, 2009 By sweet surrender 9 Comments on Contest Starts Tomorrow

I did mention before that I will be organizing a contest while I’m away. I’m not sure how the responses will be but I’ll just organize for the fun of it.

The questions will be out everyday at 3pm. There will be one question a day. Friday will be the last day. Result will be announced before September.

Leave your answers by commenting. You can submit as many entries as you like. Only the correct answer will be considered. Be sure to key in your valid e-mail address so that I can contact you if you are the lucky winner.

How to win?
Those with the most correct answers will win. In case there’s a tie, then the answer on Friday will determine the winner. Also, just in case if I do have problem in determining it based on Friday’s answer, then I will take into consideration on who is the early bird for most/all of the days.

I’ll have 2 winners for this contest. Be sure to join everyday.

As you know, I have comment moderation on. Those who never left any comment will have their comments hold for moderation, it will not affect the contest as there’s always time stamp there. I will try to approve comments everyday but I don’t think many people will join hahaha…

However, if you did send over and there might be some technical glitches that make your comment(s) disappears, I will not be responsible for that.

For each question, there will be a deadline for you to submit your answer. The deadline for each of them is 11.59pm each day. Any answer sent after the deadline will not be considered.

Decision is final.

The prize?
I have no idea yet but it’s something I’ll get from my trip 😉

Have fun! They are going to be quite easy ones.

By the way, do check out SS Exclusive to get September 2009 Marie Claire and InStyle from UK!

Kuching Festival 2009 – Part 3

Posted on August 14, 2009 By sweet surrender No Comments on Kuching Festival 2009 – Part 3

My parents went to Kuching Festival again last night and bought some food for dinner and today’s breakfast.

Left: Sweet sour spicy chicken feet, as the name suggested, need me to say more? ;p

Right: O kueh (O = yam)

Left: Chui kueh, not easy to find good chui kueh (chui = water in Hokkien). Last time we used to buy it from Sunday Market but the old aunty no more making it. This is the best by far from Yi Yuan (I don’t know the exact name of this place, this is the Chinese name I’m giving you, it’s the Teochew restaurant located at MBKS swimming pool), my dad will surely buy it every single time he goes to food fair.

Right: Chocolate bun, had this for breakfast, steamed it and it’s ready to eat. Pretty cute don’t you think so?

So Blank, So Empty

Posted on August 13, 2009August 14, 2009 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on So Blank, So Empty

I’m so blank, empty and random these days. Just seeing my blog you will know ;p

Want to relax yet cannot relax even though no one stop me from doing so.

Want to do something yet don’t have the motivation to do anything even though there are many things to get busy with.

Also quite lost too even though lots of options/opportunities that come to me.

Having sleepless nights too sigh… So many things playing in my mind. Wanted to sleep yet when I closed my eyes, the problems come playing in my mind until I couldn’t sleep. OH NO! My dark circles! 🙁 Screw the problem maker! You are the source of all my problems! If only you don’t exist in this world at all!

Heading towards mid August now! OH MY! SO FAST!

Will be in Singapore from next Monday night and back on Friday evening. Haven’t plan where to go and what to do but a Singaporean friend had offered to do an itinerary for me. I’m waiting for it *LOL*

During the time I’m in Singapore I don’t think I will be updating my blog but will have schedule posts. I’m thinking of organizing a contest during this period of time and the winner will get souvenir from me that I will be getting in Singapore. The schedule posts will be the questions or the clues to the answers. Haven’t think of what kind of questions or clues. Still trying to figure out.

Was cleaning my room just now and saw a thank you card that was sent to me all the way from Perth in February 2005 from my late-bf’s sister and it got me shedding my tears and miss my darling even more. I wish my dream will come true soon. I wish the day will come soon.

That’s all for now.

Van Sapu

Posted on August 12, 2009August 13, 2009 By sweet surrender 4 Comments on Van Sapu

We all know that the public transport here in Kuching is in very sad state. Seriously, I only took public transport less than 10 times in Kuching if my memory serves me right and it was years back when I was schooling and I never utilized one alone because I don’t know how it works. *LOL*

What I’m trying to highlight here are some of the safety issues of van sapu(those van operators without license but pick up passengers from bus stops to send them to their destination).

I do not use public transport(be it legal or illegal ones). What I’m going to say here are from what I encountered and my assumptions because I don’t know how these people are operating and how the users know which is the right van to board.

One afternoon, I was driving. There were 2 vans, one in front of me, one behind me. I didn’t know they were van sapu. I just drove as usual and there was a bus stop not far, the van driver in front of me had his signal on stating that he was going to make a stop at the bus stop. As you know, when people want to stop or turn into a junction, they will slow down right? And those behind will of course slow down also. I did not intend to overtake because no point at all, the other lane was occupied also, so I slowed down too.

Then I noticed the van behind me started to tailgate me upon reaching the bus stop but I didn’t care because the other lane was occupied and he should just follow whatever those in front of him were doing, slowing down.

When the first van almost came to a stop at the bus stop, I sped up slightly and swayed to the right a bit while it went into the bus stop area but guess what happened? He switched lane, this was fine, very normal if people want to go faster but he immediately took this opportunity to shove himself right in front of me and stop at the bus stop! WTF! I had to apply sudden break and luckily my speed wasn’t very fast yet. Not only that, it came to a complete halt right in front of the first van at the bus stop. During that time, the first van wasn’t in a complete halt yet. Everything happened in mere seconds so I hope you get what I’m trying to tell you hahaha…

Was so pissed! I looked at my rear view mirror and realized that both were van sapu. The first van didn’t manage to get the passenger at the bus stop which he was supposed to but was overtook by the other van sapu. What’s more?!?! The van behind was putting other road users in danger!

If it’s licensed van, then I’m sure they will not do this as people can report them for dangerous driving and if they got into accident, they will be in big trouble but majority of van sapu operators didn’t bother at all, all they care is getting as many passenger as possible in other words got more money.

So… This is one issue I notice.

The next one which got me quite puzzle and worry especially for the safety of children and women.

Since van sapu got no license, any van can emulate the other real van sapu markings. The fake van sapu will have some “passengers” on board which makes it looks like a real van sapu. Then, it stops at the bus stop to take passengers.

From what I notice, the passenger(s) will usually go up the van when the van makes a stop at the bus stop, sometimes the van is empty, sometimes with other passengers. It’s as if boarding a stranger’s car which is a very dangerous thing to do.

Isn’t this very dangerous? Those waiting for transport will think that this is a real van sapu and board it. Then later got kidnap or drove to somewhere else to be raped or robbed or both?

Since I don’t use such transport, I would like to know how you know that which van sapu is real or fake. I don’t understand how it works.

As far as I know, these real van sapu did help a lot in getting people to their destinations with our current state of public transportation. It’s is not all bad but it is illegal.

What’s your say on this issue?

Frog Legs

Posted on August 11, 2009July 19, 2022 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on Frog Legs

Frog legs, do you eat?

I know some of my friends said that they won’t because it’s really ewww… To me, it’s YUMMY!

My mom usually cooked it with dark soy sauce, onions, ginger, garlic, lemon grass and of course salt and sugar to taste. Eating it needs a lot of patience and a bit tedious because the bones are small.

Deep fried it before but not nice at all. Made soup before but also not nice.

If I’m not mistaken, this is what I heard, frog legs soup is very good for the skin especially those with sensitive skin, you know the kind when you easily get reddish after mosquito bite and it will last there for a while. Constantly having the soup will improve the situation. Not sure how true but that’s what my dad’s friend’s daughter experienced.

Do you like frog legs?

Why do you want to dig that far?
