Upgraded To WordPress 2.6

Posted on July 26, 2008July 27, 2008 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on Upgraded To WordPress 2.6

Finally found a bit of time last night to upgrade my WordPress. I have about 5 more blogs that I haven’t update. Will upgrade again after moving those blogs to another server.

Love the word count feature. Don’t have to worry about how many words more to write when I write money posts hahaha…

I somewaht hate the autosave since the previous version. Sometimes I accidentally write my post in “Page” instead of “Post” and it just autosaved for me. Sigh… I don’t want to delete them because I don’t wan’t to lost count of my number of posts I’ve done throughout the lifetime of my blog. Therefore if I said that I had reached 1000 post, it means it’s really 1000, there’s never any deletion of post. Even if I accidentally created a wrong post or page, I would just make them my draft and replace it with other content next time.

“Post” is easy to replace but “Page” is pain in ass to replace. I always have to think of new page to used up the drafts I have in my WordPress. That explains why I have a Wish List, Affiliates, and Contacts. Hahahaha…

Now I have two more, what should I put for these two?!?! One is reserved for Advertise With Me. Another one? Will figure it out one day hahahah… My top navigation is almost full. By then I will have to move them down to sidebar or hmm… Don’t know yet.

Anyway, just a quick post today. Have to prepare for exam this coming Saturday. GOSH! So many things need to memorise -.-“

Say Goodbye To My Canon Digital IXUS i Zoom

Posted on July 25, 2008April 17, 2010 By sweet surrender 19 Comments on Say Goodbye To My Canon Digital IXUS i Zoom

Called Empress about my camera, Canon Digital Ixus i Zoom, they said that I needed RM200+ to repair because of the lens cable problem. I decided not to get it repaired, I would rather buy a new one. I had set my target already, I’ll get a new camera soon in August when PC fair is here. It will be a lower range one, below RM1K, a DIGITAL IXUS 80 IS. I go for this because I just got 2 new batteries for my currently dying camera, if not then it would be wasted 😛 It’s another Canon because I love the picture quality even though the camera durability isn’t that good especially the IXUS model.

So, I’m going to spend less money on a compact digital camera now, next time if there’s problem with it, it won’t be so painful. Then the rest of the money, I’m saving them for a DSLR, Canon 450D!! 😛 Waiting for the price to drop further, no hurry hehehe… I don’t mind if someone willing to sponsor me or give me as a birthday gift 😛 Hehehe…

It’s time to say goodbye to this camera that cost me about RM1300+, bought it from KL at Low Yat in January 2006. Was supposed to buy this with my own money but my dad said I didn’t have to pay him the money back. In other word, he bought this camera for me. At the beginging of my usage, it posed a lot of problems and I had to send it in and out of Canon to get the problems fixed because I’m jinxed!! Hahaha…

It’s been with me for 2 and a half years. I had taken more than 82,000+ photos and videos(according to my memory card as I’m using the continous file numbering and it started at 100-0001, now is 182-xxxx, almost 83,000) with it. This camera had followed me to KL, Miri, Borneo Highlands, Damai Beach, Camp Permai, various events in Kuching, on MAS, on Air Asia, various eating establishments, lots of weddings, outing with friends and everywhere I went. Have to mention also the test shoots that Canon did when checking this camera when I sent it to Canon several times in the first few months of usage. Almost all of the photos you see in my blog before July 2008 were taken with this camera, I didn’t do much editting except resizing, that’s why I prefer Canon. You can see some selected photos here

My camera is always with me whenever I’m out and about, it’s easy to bring around because it’s small and compact which I love. Consider me a heavy user, I camwhored a lot with it also hahaha… Now… It has come to the end of its life.

Frankly 82,000+ photos and videos in 2 and half years is a bit too little and too short of lifespan don’t you think? If only it could last longer. At least it lasted more than 1 year longer than my previous first generation Canon Ixus that was bought from Singapore. I’m a heavy IXUS user for almost 4 years and still going to be one. The new one will be my third IXUS. Therefore, I’m in a better position to judge the durability of the camera, I admit that sometimes I did drop my camera but it shouldn’t be much of a problem as other brands are more durable judging from how my friends were using them, they were “clumsier” than me but their cameras lasted longer than mine.

I have friends that are using the IXUS also and all of them have to change camera after one year or 2 years plus later. Some of them are not heavy user like me and some of them are equally heavy user like me. No matter how’s the usage, all could only used for less than 3 years. This is something to take note of.

I hope Canon can make more durable compact digital cameras, especially the IXUS because many cameras out there now can withstand drop of at least 3 feet or shock, I don’t see why Canon cannot incorporate this feature in their cameras. If they can incorporate this feature, I can tell you I’m going to ENDORSE CANON! *LOL* As if I’m some sort of celebrity 😛 The sales of the camera will surely be better because it’s really worth the money with the design, picture quality and the durability. Hahaha… Other than that I have no complain.

The E18 error, oh well… Who knows there’s a miracle that it healed on its own just like what the other owners with this problem *LOL*

Frydays Chicken @ Petanak

Posted on July 24, 2008November 21, 2008 By sweet surrender 12 Comments on Frydays Chicken @ Petanak

I some what did a boo boo yesterday but anyway I made myself looked foolish and it won’t affect you in anyway, so f*** it off!

Frydays Chicken opens for business since quite sometimes ago. I’m sure not many people know about it because of the location. I didn’t realised it at first, it’s not obvious. I don’t remember how I noticed it few months back though.

It’s located at Petanak, just at the roadside but you have to pay attention to it then you can notice it, the next door is a Chinese restaurant that takes up almost the whole row of shop. If you are coming from Shell direction, it’s on right; if you are coming from Petanak market, it’s on your left.

They have promotion now. You see here is the Promo Steak(RM4.98), the vegetable is patheticly some long beans or French beans hahaha… The steak was big enough and tender, it’s sprinkled with chili powder. You can opt for original or plum.

Another promo is RM2.58, Promo Wings comes with a chicken wing, rice and some long beans or French beans :P. For small eater, this will be enough to feed you.

No pork and No tax 😉 It’s a pity that not many people know about this place. It’s really not that obvious and many people didn’t know it exists, not even my family until I told them. According to their namecard, They provide pure water, healthy oil, 100% fresh and clean environment.

I always heard of the plum flavour chicken and it’s recommended by those that went there before. I decided to ordered 5 pieces of chicken thighs as they don’t have drumstick anymore. I ordered 2 originals, 2 plums, 1 spicy but they gave me 1 original, 2 plums and 2 spicy. The 5 pieces of chicken cost RM13.46. If you go for the wings, then it’s RM10+.

At home, my dad had original, he said it tasted like bread *LOL* I have no idea at all, thats’ how he described it. Then my mom and my bro had plum, according to them, at first it was not so bad, the more you eat, the more yucky it is because it’s sweet hahaha… I have no idea also because I didn’t eat them, only tasted a bit and it’s not that bad. As for my sis and I, we had spicy ones, it’s pretty spicy if you can’t tolerate spicy food and I have nothing much to comment about it. It’s just chicken sprinkled with some spicy or plum powder. The chickens were quite tender though.

Will I go back again? Hmm… Neutral on this, yes and no. The things are pretty affordable though.

Road Signs In Chinese Unnecessary?

Posted on July 23, 2008July 24, 2008 By sweet surrender 14 Comments on Road Signs In Chinese Unnecessary?

What’s your say? I have something to say about this. What’s the big deal of having Chinese road signs as long that the Malay words are there and the Chinese words are below it? Why make it an issue when there are other pressing matters that you should concentrate on?!?!?

I’m not talking politics now, I’m talking about racial and cultural issues that seemed like some ministers only care about themselves and being racist! For your information, we have Chinese road signs or signboards everywhere in Kuching and there is nothing wrong with it as long that there’s national language on it. It’s something unique and special which I’m very proud of, you can’t see this in KL or many other states in Malaysia. Why is it so wrong to have it in Penang? I don’t see the point. You can read the full news here

Quoted from The Borneo Post
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the Federal Constitution had stated it clearly that Malay is the national language.

“All official signs, therefore, should be in Malay. This is part of the social contract agreed upon by our forefathers and I hope no one will try to challenge that,” Azalina told Bernama when contacted.

She reminded those involved the Malays had already compromised many things for the sake of unity but their patience had its limit.

Sorry la aunty… I used to see highly of you but now I have no respect to you anymore! What the heck with the last sentence?!?! The Malays!?!? We the Chinese, the Indians are not Malaysians? It’s more like we are the one that have to compromise many things for you people ok?!?!? We are never treated the same class as you people, we are always the second class citizens! This thing should not happen if we are regarded as MALAYSIANS. We all should have the same rights and not with all the special treatments such as different quotas or share percentage based on our ethnicity. If we are treated as MALAYSIANS, there is no need to state our ethnicity in official forms. Compromise!?!? Patience had its limit? This is really a very insensitive statement to be made by a minister! That is what I called racist and insensitive! Even among our friends of different races, there is no way we will say this kind of thing to each other!

It’s strange that for Malaysians, we called ourselves based on our ethnicity instead of referring ourselves as Malaysians but other countries for example Australia, they will just identify themselves as Australians instead of “I’m a Chinese from Malaysia”, “I’m a Malay from Malaysia” etc. Well… We are brought up this way, what to do?

Quoted from The Borneo Post
Malay language expert Professor Emeritus Datuk Dr Nik Safiah Karim said she could not agree with the action as it was tantamount to eroding the country’s national identity.

“A country must have its own identity and Malay is the national language. Why should we elevate other languages to be on par with the national language?” she asked.

I’m sorry but I just can’t accept this argument. National language is national language, there’s nothing wrong to have other languages that place with it side by side! If you are so concern about the national language, why don’t all you people talk proper national language instead of going around talking in rojak?!!? Just see how the sessions going on in parliament, goodness gracious! I don’t think I heard of any minister or YB that can use proper national language! This is just not the right argument for not allowing other language to appear on road signs or signboards. As long that the national language is there, it won’t do any harm at all. It’s something unique to portray that our country is multi-racial and everyone accept each other differences.

Quoted from The Borneo Post
Federation of Peninsular Malay Students (GPMS) secretary-general Mohd Nordin Awang said those involved should be clear about the position of the Malay language.

“All the while, there have been no problem with road signs in Malay. Why now?” he said, adding the move had no justification whatsoever as it was merely for political purposes.

“Are the road signs a pressing issue or is there other motives behind it?” he asked.

Mohd Nordin said throughout Malaysia’s 51 years of nationhood, there had been no problems or conflict arising from road signs.

He said the action could also hurt the feelings of the Malays and affect the harmonious relations among the people.

Oh yea?!?! Why is it always the Malays, Malays, Malays? Notice it? We non-Malays are not MALAYSIANS? We are living in multi-racial country, it’s not only your race ok?!?! It’s just road signs, it’s not some political slogans or anything! There is totally nothing wrong with having other language in road signs side by side with the national language! Don’t forget that many words in the national language are borrowed from other languages as well.

Quoted from The Borneo Post
He said such action should be stopped, lest it become a trend.

“Today it will be Gerakan. Tomorrow, other parties may also put up their road signs.”

Tanjong Umno Youth chief Shaharrudin Hassan meanwhile demanded Malay should be the language for all road signs in the area.

“We are not satisfied with the action.

We want the road signs to be in Malay,” he said.

This proved that these people are very narrow minded and still cannot accept the fact that Malaysia is a multi-racial country!

It’s just road signs! What the heck with all these stupid, narrow minded comments or views? Shame on you people, I can guarantee many Malays will feel ashame with you people for potraying your own people this way! I know you just potrayed your own views but not everyone thinks like you and with those statements, you are obviously dragging the whole racial issue and the particular race into your arguments!

From all these statements, it has proven that we, the non-Malays, are indeed second class citizens. Talking about being a Malaysian? What a shame! Malu betul to be associated with these kind of people.

Lunch @ Enter K

Posted on July 22, 2008July 23, 2008 By sweet surrender 11 Comments on Lunch @ Enter K

Went to Enter K this morning to sing karaoke hahaha… Sing karaoke in the morning!! :p Actually it started at 11am until 3pm. Only RM16 including lunch, a glass of drink and two types of snacks. It’s really worth it! If you have student card, then it’s only RM15 but there won’t be snacks provided.

We used the same room as the first time I was there. These were taken from inside the room. That naked statue would greet you before you go into Room 10.

Left: More rooms…
Right: Our room.

The two local snacks that were given to us. IT’S NOT FREE!!! There’s a charge of RM10!!!, I remember the first time we went, there’s no such charge at all! We were not informed about it too! I’m not happy with this! Anyway, even added with this, it’s still much cheaper than Popwave, you just have to split the cost among your friends.

Food was served at 12pm or so. I’ll just give you the common name because I didn’t manage to take photo of the menu.

Left: Doris ordered Japanese curry rice.
Right: Jimmy ordered fried bee hoon.

Left: Serene and I ordered salted fish fried rice.
Right: Our table with our drinks and food. We all had green tea.

Our group photo!!!

This time the good thing was that, the microphone last from the begining till the end. No more batteries changing episode like last time. Lots of songs to choose, the sound system was OK too, better than previously.

Beside the first complain, I have another complain. The kitchen smell came into the room. After we came out from our karaoke session, we smelt like just come out from the kitchen and our hair and clothes smelt like kitchen! The worst part was that our hair was so oily -.-” coated with oil!! Usually the smell would just go away after some times but this time we were coated with OIL and the smell just couldn’t go away! Ewww…
