Yet Another Burglary

Posted on July 29, 2008July 29, 2008 By sweet surrender 19 Comments on Yet Another Burglary

Update: Our neighbour told us that the culprit drove a carplate-less white RAV4! WOW! Don’t play play, this might be some syndicate and not your usual motorbike burglar that I always saw. This is one high class burglar! I wonder do they stole that RAV4 and used it to commit crime? Hmm…

This time… It’s our car that was burglared. At around 4am this morning, our car alarm went off, woke up and quickly turned on the staircase light, wanted to off the alarm but it stopped before I pressed any button. My dad saw the back lights of our car blinking thought that the battery might have problem, he went down and found out that the driver side door was opened. Steering was forced to turn with the steering locks so that the burglar can check the drawer comfortably. Luckily it didn’t hit the front windscreen. Everything in the drawer was gone but most were waste paper(mostly brochures hahaha…), parking ticket booklet was gone and so did the car user manual. What left was the other thinner manual.

Good thing they didn’t break the side window and the front windscreen. This morning, my dad found out that they actually forced the lock at the back of our car where the tire was hanging to gain entrance into the car. Now there’s a hole there. The lock was gone. They might have climb into the car from the back and went to the front and then left from the driver side door. WOW! The burglar was so damn “smart”, really don’t know to laugh or to cry.

Then my dad also found two packets of tissue papers thrown to the next shop and our company stamp was thrown to under my aunt’s car. The rest of the papers were no where to be found. I guess the burglar wanted to recycle those waste paper *LOL*

All the cars parked at our place ever got broken into, everyone of them got their windows smashed before. Ours wasn’t. What to do, we are not staying in a house but row of shops with public parking. You have to park at your own risk. Hmm… My aunt’s car was burglared 3 or 4 times already where her passenger seat window was smashed and nothing stolen from her car except the first time which her cassette player was stolen. The rest of the episodes, nothing was stolen but the same window got smashed but there’s nothing went missing because nothing to steal!!

The rest of the cars that parked at our area mostly got their sound systems stolen. For ours, there’s nothing to steal at all, we don’t install any fancy thing in the car and there wasn’t anything worth money to steal. Most of the time, there would be one dog sleeping under our car because our car is higher compare to others. I guess there was no stray dog sleeping under it that time, that’s why they targetted ours after all the possible targets were broken into before except ours. Stupid burglar! Only know how to spoil people’s properties.

What can we do to combat this? I don’t think there’s anything much we can do. By the time you found out, they were no where to be seen. I noticed that their operation hours were between 4am-5.30am because this is not the first time, I had witnessed severals with my eyes but I couldn’t do anything for fear of my own safety. Even if you want to report to the police and to catch them red handed is not easy, by the time the police comes, they will be gone. If you confront them, they might take revenge the next time. See the problem?

My area is getting more and more unsafe. That explains why I don’t want to drive alone or go out alone at night if possible and would prefer people come to pick me up and I try to go home as early as I could. If there’s no one that can pick me up then I usually would just stay home if it’s not something very important. Now you know why I always rely on people to pick me up when I go anywhere at night. It’s not that I don’t want to drive, I’m fear of my safety.

I’m getting more and more paranoid these days. Every night, I didn’t really sleep well. As long that I hear some suspicious sounds, I would wake up and look out of the window to see whether there’s something going on. I have no idea how many nights that I could actually sleep without waking up by some suspicious sounds. Sigh…

I suggested to my family to install CCTV or something but they are not game to the idea because this will cause unwanted attention to would-be criminals. It’s logical also because those suckers might think that we are so rich that they will target on us. Unless the council take action to install CCTV at our area but you think they will? IMPOSSIBLE! Who would be monitoring the CCTV? We are not as advance as the US ok?!?!

Sigh… You see!?!? What to do now?!?! Kuching is getting more and more unsafe, gone are the peaceful days. *SAD**ANGRY* I don’t feel safe anymore.

Just the other day, a tourist was so happy taking pictures of Kuching. And decided to let one of the locals helped him take a picture of him with the scenery. After the guy took a picture of him, he quickly turned and ran off with the poor fella’s camera.

The sad part is, everyone who was there just look and did nothing about it. Which pretty much sux. So you could really say Kuching not safe anymore..

I heard this story from one of the vendors who was selling waffles.. Price increase = Crime Rates Increase as well…

eh…we can replace our alarm alert system into bomb explosion system when the alarm being trigger, the impact is enough to burn a person without affect the others cars beside it, is a good technology! benefit: can kill the burglar immediately without any painful (100-1=99 left burglar). Disadvantages: you have to scarify your whole car by replace a new one and need to buy a very high insurance sum.

What would they do with the manual?

We just had an incident a few nights ago, but fortunately for us, the neighbour across the street saw the perp and he fled empty handed. This occurred at 8pm. They operate at all hours as long as they think it is safe to do so.

Kuching is no longer safe and you no longer have that peace of mind.

Hey, someone should come up with a screaming alarm. You know, instead of the regular ringing ones. Or an eerie laugh or something to creep the hell out of the burglars. That should turn their blood cold and make them pee in their pants. Ugh. Good for nothing urchins.

    ahlost, pity us.

Katherine-Lee, for my area their operation is somewhat fixed *LOL* Everytime happened at the same period of time. That alarm thing is so funny 😛 I guess they took the manual to recycle *LOL* Or study the car and see how to ease their operation next time.
