LOL… I wonder how many people will stumble into this post when they search for topics related to IELTS ;p
I had completed mine today. I’m not very happy with what I did. I think I might have to resit, if this really happens, then it’s going to be another RM550. Expensive! Sigh…
I’ve been preparing for it for about 3 weeks. I had the feeling that I’m fully prepared but today’s experience wasn’t a very nice one.
The listening test was quite a disappointment for me, I didn’t do as well as I had expected. I had problem grasping the speech of section 2 because the volume was too loud for me. I did tell the invigilator to reduce the volume before it started but after that she increased it again. Aih… I hope I managed to answer at least 30 questions correctly because from my rough estimation, I had problem with 10 questions, mostly in section 2. My section 2 almost went down the drain!
The reading test, quite nerve wrecking too. I thought I could finish it fast but who knows I couldn’t complete the whole thing and left one field blank, not in time to write down my answer even though I could just simply write something in there. This, I had 10 questions that I’m not very sure too. Again, hopefully the rest were correct.
The writing test, OMG! The graph I hated the most came out! Damn, I had been having problem trying to interpret them during my revision and it came out! I just wrote whatever I could. Then, second essay was totally different format from what I’ve been studying. Aiks… I kept writing without stopping and didn’t have the luxury of time to check my language -.-” 60 minutes for two essays(150 words and 250 words) with no option to choose is nerve wrecking! Especially when I did not have a good start and it’s affecting me in a way.
The speaking test, major disappointment. I wasn’t prepared for that topic and it’s a topic so alien to me. I talked until I got nothing to talk and I still had time. I paused and simply added in some salt, chilies, and peppers which were not related and got my speech mumbled jumbled with grammatical mistakes. Running out of vocabulary was not fun too. Pronunciation was OK I guess. I was supposed to talk slower than my usual speed but I went faster and faster. That was not good. ARG!
Getting 7 for every single component? I’m so worry. If I do get it, wow… I’m really lucky.
Average 7, maybe, but I don’t dare to put high hope on it with what I had done just now. Then again, there is no use for an average of 7, I still need to retake!
Sigh… I should just let it be, think so much also no use. It’s over. Better concentrate on my coming semester exam.
I searched for ARG – and I happened to land on your blog. The post will have a 9, so just relaxe and have some fun.

Have a great weekend
TorAa, oh! Hahaha… ARG leads to this blog, it seems like I’m using of this word I guess ;p Photo Hunt, I play too but in my other blog irenelaw.com
You shall be allright and lots better than others that do not write as often as you. All the best and do well in your further study.
william, now can only pray high and low hoping that the marker has good mood and be lenient in his/her marking for essay and speaking ;p
Hehehe..IELTS ain’t easy.
willie, actually it’s not that hard for listening and reading, speaking wasn’t that bad too(the examiner actually tried to help me by giving me follow up questions which were more familiar to me as I’m sure she did notice that I didn’t have much knowledge of the topic she had given but I sort of screwed it up as I got all nervous after speaking section 2 and didn’t talk formally instead very casually with slang and so on gosh! At least I got my pronunciations right but messed up my grammar and vocab), I would say the hardest part was essay.
Then again, I don’t know why, first time did English test till this stress. Even before the test started, I was so nervous -.-” I never had such nervous attack in my life and this is just an English test. So, I’m quite disappointed with myself.
It’s over darling don’t worry about it
Hello Irene, regret I’m not familiar with what is ‘IELTS’?
Anyway, think positive, I’m sure you’ll do fine.
Its how you answer that counts sometimes.
I guess maybe English not your your first language?
Still from what I read of your postings and comments, you are good, needs a wee bit of corrections here and there, kow tim, ha ha.
But hey…nobody’s perfect. We all make mistakes….and remember, Bill Gates was a drop out, many others too.
Here’s wishing you the very best, Irene. Good luck, Lee.
Mike, yea… It’s over. Broke already taking this exam LOL. If need to resit, then have to worry about the money again.
Uncle Lee, yea, English not my first language, in fact I also have problem expressing myself verbally in other languages too that includes my first language(seriously, I don’t really know what my first language is LOL). Basically, I’m not very good in expressing myself verbally hahaha… Also language subject isn’t my strength ;p except programming language but I almost forget everything about it already, it was my strongest subject. Now, ask me to write a program, I’ll give you blank stare.
We’ll see what kind of result I get 2 weeks later.
