I bought Cooler Master Notepal B2 at Sarawak ICT Expo 2008. It cost me RM105 for the one in titanium. If it’s silver or black, it’s RM100. In fact it’s more than RM120 if not mistaken, my sis helped me to bargain till RM100 on the first day but didn’t buy. Went there on the last day and the guy told us black and silver were out of stock, left titanium and he couldn’t give RM100 for titanium but said RM105 is the lowest, oh well… What to do? You won’t be seeing Cooler Master selling at price below RM110 for this size. I’m not sure it’s a bargain for this or not but at least it does it work well.
Here’s the box and Cooler Master Notepal B2 in titanium, it’s made from stylishly brushed high quality aluminium alloy.
I’m not sure… I just can’t recall. I was shown the black one on the first day and the material is kinda thin and pretty light though it’s the same model. As for this, it’s pretty heavy and quite thick. Hmm… Maybe I got the wrong feel, really can’t recall anything about the black one.
It’s so tough and it can really kill people if you hit people with it. I accidentally knocked the corner on our cement wall and it actually caused a small dent to the wall. I really cannot imagine if it fell on the floor and I’m sure the mosaic would crack! If it fell on my toes, my toes might even be broken! GAH!! Dare not to imagine it.
Also, I accidentally knocked my laptop underside(at the very corner near the battery area) to Cooler Master corner, it caused a very small dent to the metal area of my laptop. It’s not obvious unless you inspect it carefully. Ok… Ok… To say that I’m very clumsy isn’t wrong also hahaha…
It came with one USB cable. The fans are just the fans you can find in your computer hahaha… In fact you can make this yourselves hehehe…
Left: There’s two ports, this will ensure that you will still have one more port for use in case you need an extra port.
Right: This is how it looked like from the side.
The result, my notebook is not hot anymore but only warm. Sometimes I’m absent minded enough that I forgot to on the switch of the fan but it still didn’t heat up that much. I was suprised.
The fan is very quiet also.
In case you want to see how it fits my notebook. 😉 Here’s the photo.
Oh… One last thing, it came with one year warranty. I’m not sure how long it will die though. We’ll wait and see. I don’t on it 24/7, only when I’m using my laptop on the dining table then I use it.
It is a very good deal, you won’t get those price unless it’s pc fair. I’m sure you will be more happy with this than RM50 non branded cooler.
The main body is aluminum, so it works too as passive cooling when fan is not switch. Don’t look down on the Cooler Master’s fan, it is a lot more quiet than normal non-branded fan. Should the fan ever break down, it should be easy to replace, though some modification might be needed.
I do wonder if it manage to cover the whole laptop surface? Previous version W1 failed to do so.
For mine, it’s shorter for my laptop but it’s enough to use for this size, it can support 15 inches laptop, it’s still sturdy enough, so no problem. Even with a 17 inches, it should be fine also as the base is very stable. Don’t really have to cover the whole laptop actually as only certain part that will heat up and I just adjust the heated part to be closer to the fan ;p Hehehe… I almost bought the W1 hahaha… but not practical for me because of my laptop front part has card reader, mic and earphone jack.
lucky for u. In the PC Fair juz now i juz bought the “cooler master” cooler pad. It model is “John Lone” but it is damn identical to notepal X1 made by original cooler master. My rm60 is gone for bought this phony product. =.=
wadawada, -.- that’s bad but hope that it will serve the same purpose and won’t spoil prematurely. If not, it’s really a waste of money.
