Olay Total Effects

Posted on October 30, 2010November 7, 2010 By sweet surrender 2 Comments on Olay Total Effects

Olay Total Effect is no stranger to all I guess… My mom has been using it ever since it’s introduced, almost 10 years… I remember I tried it last time when my mom bought it and I quite like it. However, I stopped using it after few usages because I did not really need it. If I’m not mistaken, it’s recommended for women age 27 and above.

I decided to start using it last month since I’m in my late twenties. Why not? It has always been a very good product that many people rave about. Even my mom is using it ever since its introduction.

I used it for a week and I surrendered. It’s not suitable for me. It broke me out! It did not melt into my face and left a sticky film on my face. In fact, I didn’t really like the smell, too strong for me. However, if it did work, I don’t mind the smell.

Ended up, I gave it to my mom. I wanted to try the other one, Olay Total Effects Cooling Essence but didn’t get to buy it because I’m afraid it’s not suitable for me also.

Since my skin is very dry and sensitive now, I’ll just concentrate in getting my skin hydrated as much as possible. Any product that I’m going to invest will be primarily for hydration. Once the face is hydrated, there will be less skin problems to worry about.

Cellnique Skin Action Sebum Gel

Posted on October 27, 2010October 27, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on Cellnique Skin Action Sebum Gel

I’m sure many of you know about Cellnique Skin Action Sebum Gel and how effective it is as many bloggers had great experiences using it. Cellnique sent me this gel in March and I only write the review now.

This is a phyto bio-engineering formulation gel for all skin types to reduce both blackheads and whiteheads on affected skin area without painful extraction. This daily maintenance gel also reduces sebum secretion, leaving the skin clear and producing smooth visible results within 10 days of application.

Benefits:
Controls excessive sebum
Reduces the formation of blackheads and whiteheads
Reduces skin inflammatory
Controls and prevents breakouts
Increases skin moistures and improves skin elasticity
Anti-irritation

Color: Slightly hazy
Scent: Peppermint
Texture: Thick fluid type
Feeling: Cooling and refreshing

Sadly, it did not work for me. I gave it a month to see the result but no good news for me. Instead whenever I went to do facial, I never get comment about having less blackheads and whiteheads, it’s either getting more or no difference. -.-”

The photos are showing before and after effect. I think it got worst, no? Ignore the pimple there ;p The after photo was taken one month after used. I only blog about it now because I was thinking of giving it more time but till now… About 6 months, there’s no positive effect for me. I decided to contact Cellnique about it and I found out that I’m not suitable for this product. They did ask me about my skin condition before sending me the product but I guess I gave them the wrong information, in fact I have dehydrated skin instead of oily skin. I knew my skin was dry but I did not expect my dehydration is this bad until recently.

Do take note:
Skin Action Sebum Gel works excellent on oily and congested skin to helps reduce both blackheads and whiteheads and control oiliness at the same time. But when skin is/became dehydrated or lack of hydration on skin surface, it could stimulate the sebaceous gland which will produce more oil and become more congested.

So… Make sure your blackheads and whiteheads are caused by oily and congested skin instead of dry skin.

It has medicinal smell, not really what I like but if it works, I don’t care about that. The pump was quite hard to control. The dispensing of the amount of product wasn’t consistent, it could be a lot for a single pump or otherwise. Usually, not much for first pump, then second pump, it would be too much for me to use.

However, it does help in combating the pimples breakout. Whenever I felt that there might be some breakouts, I would apply it on the area and it did work well. I’m only using it to combat my occasional pimples instead of blackheads and whiteheads now.

In case you’re wondering about the price, I think it’s RM150+ if I’m not mistaken. I lost the box with the price tag.

In conclusion, it does not work for me. I thought I will not suffer too much during my facial but it did not help in reducing it hahahah… Anyway, I’m trying to hydrate my skin as much as possible now.

Oh My Sensitive Skin

Posted on October 25, 2010November 12, 2010 By sweet surrender 10 Comments on Oh My Sensitive Skin

I have no idea why. Since the past two weeks, my skin started to get very easily irritated. Even by just splashing it with water was enough to make red patches appeared and it would itch. Luckily it would go away in less than half hour. Still it’s bad… I’ve never experience such problem before. It’s my first time. Because of this, I had cut down on many products and used the basics in my daily skincare routine, cleansed, toned, moisturised, and protect.

Today, I went for my facial, the beautician asked me what’s wrong with my skin, the condition was really really bad. Last time, apart from dry skin and blackheads, now it got worst. She found out that my skin was even drier than it used to be which caused all these sensitivities and weaken the skin even more. LOTS of Blackheads too! Extremely long and painful extractions.

My question now is how to keep my face hydrated? I drink plenty of water daily, I eat normally, no yo-yo dieting. I don’t drink or smoke. Well… Not enough sleep and stress might part of the causes. The crazy weather these days might be the problem too. I did some research but all saying the same things to stay hydrated which I’m doing all the time. So? What else?

Can’t afford expensive products. I’ve been trying to hydrate my skin by investing in many hydrating range (those that can be bought from Watsons or Guardian) but nothing works so far 🙁 Need stronger ones I guess but that might mean I have to go for the high end products -.-”

Any tips or recommendations?

Hotel Chocolat Isabelle

Posted on October 23, 2010October 24, 2010 By sweet surrender 3 Comments on Hotel Chocolat Isabelle

Very nice name for a chocolate, Isabelle. Wonder how it got its name.

Isabelle is a praline filled cup topped with an almond and honey Florentine. At first I didn’t know there’s actually something special to it, I thought it’s just a chocolate cup filled with Florentine in it but when we took it out from the tray, it had two colours. Then, when we tasted it, it’s actually filled with praline and not filled with Florentine. It’s just a layer. Hehehe… Didn’t read the words on the packaging before eating, that’s why ;p

I think it looks exquisite. What do you think?

Taste wise, I do love the Florentine. As for the chocolate, very smooth and milky chocolate.

In case you’re wondering, you can’t get it here in case you’re wondering where to buy it. My parents bought it during their trip to the UK. In case you do go to the UK, then you might want to drop by Hotel Chocolat store which can be found in major cities in UK or you can browse the site to drool over the selection of chocolates ;).

Chong Choon Cafe

Posted on October 21, 2010November 20, 2010 By sweet surrender No Comments on Chong Choon Cafe

Believe it or not? This is my very first time dining at Chong Choon Cafe at Jalan Abell. Quite easy to locate, consider the same row as Air Asia office.

Serious! I’m not kidding you. I’m not the kind that sit at the coffee shop, mostly we buy the food back. Besides that, it’s my first time eating the food there too! So called Kuchingite hahaha… I didn’t go there for the Sarawak Laksa though. I went there for my lunch 2 months ago. I was waiting for my IELTS speaking test so I went there with another candidate. Just found out the photos were in my phone and I forgot to transfer to my computer.

We did not have much time to enjoy and they’re closing. No mood to enjoy too. There were what we ordered:

Left: Kolo lau su fen, literally translate it as rat noodle (RM2.50). Don’t worry, it’s not made from rats! Another name for it is silver needle noodle. The noodle is red because it was added with char siew oil. Or usually if you want to have this, you can say “pang ang” (in Hokkien, it means you want it to be red). In fact you can ask for this in any kolo dish. No extra charge.

Right: Kolo mee (RM2.50). I’m not a fan of kolo mee, I usually don’t order kolo mee, I usually cannot finish one bowl on my own, just few mouths and I’ll be full. I wanted to order the wonton soup but it was out of stock. Nothing else to order, I ended up with kolomee. Luckily I managed to finish everything. Don’t ask me to give comment whether it’s good or not because I don’t really know what a good kolomee should be ;p At least this one did not torture me, I managed to finish it, quite slowly… Did not want to waste food.

Overall, nothing much I can comment about the place. However, it is a place that you can go if you want to experience the old school kopitiam in Kuching. It is one of the most popular kopitiams serving one of the best Sarawak Laksa in town but be sure to be there as early as you can because it’s too popular! You can also find humongous 3-layer Teh C Peng there.
